Where to get this map : http://www.warmage.com/ Other work by author : The map Firedrop.unr for Unreal by Quicken Additional Credits to : Epic Megagames (http://unreal.epicgames.com/) Blink Software (http://www.warmage.com/) Sidetracked.com (http://www.sidetracked.com/) ================================================================ --- Play Information --- Game : Unreal Tournament Mod changes : Includes two new Game types Difficulty Settings : No (Maybe next version, I'll explain later) New Sounds : No New Graphics : Yes NewUnrealScript : Yes External DLLs : No Known bugs : Not really. There's one issue where on really low res the scoreboard can overlap a bit with messages knocking the text down. But it's a bug in Epic's script not ours and doesn't really effect the game to be worth worrying about. --- Construction --- Editor(s) used : UCC, UnrealEd, UModWizard, Gimp, and MS-Studio Base : Scratch Construction Time : About 5 person days Installation ------------ It's a umod so double click and UnrealTournament should take care of the install for you. If you've got problems with your umod association try running something like "c:\UnrealTournment\System\Setup.exe TagDeathmatch.umod" Once installed the new gametypes will be available via the menu system for practices and multiplayer games Extended description: -------------------- Rules: At the start of the game the Tag is up for grabs. The player to get first blood will become the Tag (sometimes called "it"). The Tagged player has some interesting effects: They regenerate health whenever below 100 They get 10 points for every kill They glow and are carrying around a green flag Once someone manages to kill the Tagged player they are then Tagged. Should the Tagged player suicide or die from some other way (slime, lava, space) that's not normally traced back to someone else being the killer then they are no longer tagged and the player to get the next kill will become the Tag. So the basic idea is to become Tag and kill like crazy. Other notes on rules: You still get 1 point for every kill when you are not Tag. But that's not going to win the game for you. Use the regen to try and help stay alive when Tag. There's no reason to go giving away that position. Because of the 10 points per kill for Tag it is possible to go over the score limit, but the game will end and it does not represent a bug. Features: - You get messages when ever the tag has changed hand and an announcement when you become Tag. - Bots know how to play! They will go all out to kill the Tag once they spot him and will be less inclined to attack a player when Tag is still running around - There is an extra sound effect whenever the Tagged player scores a kill. - The tagged player, thanks to the flag, is very easy to spot. - There is a team play version! It's important to work as a team to help the Tagged player if he's on your team or all out assault the Tagged player if on the other team. Work together to get to a win quickly. Notes: Feel free to mix and match with mutators. They will all work with this game type although some are better than others. Instagib, for instance, will mean The regen effect when Tagged will be of no use. I recommend you play to 100-300 score limit with at least 4 players. You can play Tag Deathmatch in any Deathmatch level. To give you an idea on the score limit I find I get the same time from a 100 score limit Tag match as from a 15 score limit Deathmatch Author's Notes -------------- This has been a nice collaborative effort. Raven and myself (Quicken) doing all the development and testing between us. Keeping each other going through each hurdle. Feel free to drop any comments, suggestions or whatever to either one of us. Also a special thanks to Darkreign (mhano@hotmail.com http://www.sidetracked.com/) for coming up with the concept. Developer's Notes ----------------- You'll note in the information below that you may reuse our source and graphics in other UT mods. There are two new flag skins (green and gold) packaged up into the .u file that compliment the existing red and blue skins. So it is possible that someone may want to make three or four way CTF (or other team games) using these skins. Also while you may reuse the code for any non-profit use I do recommend that you send us any code changes you'd like introduced into tag match. Even if we don't like it very much if you've put in a lot of work we're more than likely to include it anyway as an option. Just helps stop there being 40 variations of much the same code running around. There are some things we would like to improve in a future release but at present there is no plans to actually implement them. Such as: - Improved Bot AI. Currently they will have preference for the tagged player as a target and will tend to camp if they are tag. But there's a lot of room for deviousness that would be nice to program in. - Bot difficulty settings. The understanding we have given bots on how to play tag match does not change from novice to godlike, but of course they do change as they would for normal DM. This is not really worth putting in until the above deviousness is put in. - New sound effects and announcements. An impersonation of the UT Announcer rather than the current "Tag you're it" sound would be very good. - Make the options configurable via the advanced options or an ini file. Including an option to choose the colour flag. Really easy to do but just not worth it now. Copyright / Permissions ----------------------- This mod is copyright (c)2000 by Blink Software.
