Assault2

Assault2 is an objective/team based gametype which will be available in UT2004.

It in, two teams (attackers and defenders) battle each other in epic (and sometimes historical) battles taking place in the Unreal universe. Attackers have several objectives to accomplish in order to win the round.

Defenders must prevent the attackers from doing so in order to win. Several rounds are played and teams can exchange roles after each round. There are several configurable options, such as the number of rounds in a match, and the time limit for each round.

Accomplishing objectives may involve reaching a key location, using machinery or computers in the level, or destroying a critical piece of hardware.

Assault also features many different useable vehicles and turrets, including Space Fighters, Buggies, Tanks, Energy Turrets, a Minigun Turret and the all powerful Ion Cannon.

I currently know of Two Maps: One will invlove players Defendig and Protecting a Skarrj Mothership, another will have the players Attackig or Defending a Robot Factory on Xan Kriegor's home plaet.

Apparently, UT2004 will ship with Six Assault Maps. Also Seems that the Rumor that Xan is Jeri Liandri is all but crushed.

Wormbo: I guess it has, but do you have any real information for this page? If not, Delete Me.

Dark Pulse: I got info, so I have edited the above and removed the Delete Me Request.

Wormbo: I meant real technical information like parent classes, class properties, etc. Also, this page is an orphan, so it's at least a Link Me.

Dark Pulse: Technical Infowise, not much is changed. It's mostly the same stuff as UT Assault, but with vehicles, which suggests maps might be quite large. However, Shag of Tactical Ops is coding Assault for its 2004 incarnation, so there may be new surprises yet in store ;)

Zxanphorian: ... envisages a bulldog going at full speed arriving at ruins in a sepia-toned desert surrounding, occupants get out of the bulldog, annilate everybody in the ruins, then the assaulters get into military motorcycles, go farther, arrive at an enemy military base, annilate them too, then the assaulters go into an apache chopper, getting bombarded by fire by enemy choppers while in flight, and then, after ten miles, land on a helecopter pad, arrive at their base, and win the round ... (hmm, a Map Idea ;))

Foxpaw: Why is this page Assault2? Is the gametype actually going to be called Assault2 or should this page be Assault and the old assault page become Assault (UT)?

Tarquin: Can anyone confirm what it will be called?

Zxanphorian: If the assault in ut2004 is called assault, name is page Assault and the UT1 assault be [Assault (UT)]?.

Dark Pulse: I'm pretty sure they'll just end up calling it Assault. We won't know until the full game is released, of course.
